Quick answer: Choose the BENTSAI 6205 series when you need a compact 12.7 mm print height, or the 6210 series when you need up to 25.4 mm. Choose a B model for handheld printing only, or a BL model when the same printer must also support sensor-triggered inline coding.

The BENTSAI BT-HH6205B, BT-HH6205BL, BT-HH6210B and BT-HH6210BL are portable thermal inkjet (TIJ) coding printers for Malaysian factories, warehouses, contract packers and SMEs. They can create text, numbers, production dates, expiry dates, batch codes, counters, serial numbers, logos, barcodes and 2D codes directly at the work area.

Suitability depends on choosing the correct ink and confirming adhesion, drying and handling performance on the customer’s actual material.

BENTSAI thermal inkjet cartridge options for porous and non-porous substrates

Water-based or solvent-based ink: match the ink to the substrate

  • Water-based ink: intended for porous and semi-porous materials such as paper, corrugated cartons, wood, fibreboard and textiles.
  • Solvent-based ink: intended for semi-porous and non-porous materials such as plastic, glass, metal plates, aluminium foil and cables.

BENTSAI lists black, cyan, magenta, yellow and green for water-based cartridges, and black, cyan, magenta, yellow, white, green and invisible options for solvent-based cartridges. Colour and cartridge availability can vary. PTS should confirm the selected ink for the required material and operating conditions before order placement.

Handheld mobility or inline conveyor coding

The B models are designed for handheld operation. The BL models add a sensor port and can be used in handheld or inline mode with a photocell sensor. Inline suitability requires a stable product path, consistent print distance and adequate space for the printer, sensor and mounting arrangement.

Battery and power options

BENTSAI specifies two 2600 mAh 18650 lithium-ion batteries and an operating time of up to 16 hours. Actual operating time depends on printing frequency, message content, settings, battery condition and the working environment. B models use USB-C 5V/2A battery charging. BL models use DC 9V/2A battery charging or power supply and are supplied with the inline-oriented power and sensor connections listed in the manufacturer documentation.

Replaceable battery for BENTSAI 6205 and 6210 portable inkjet printer

Cartridge-based TIJ maintenance routine

Thermal inkjet cartridges integrate the ink supply and printhead. When the cartridge is replaced, the printer receives the printhead integrated into that cartridge. During longer idle periods, follow the manual: remove the cartridge when appropriate, fit its protective cap correctly and store it in the recommended position. If print quality changes, inspect and clean the nozzle plate using the approved procedure instead of using sharp objects or unapproved chemicals.

Frequently Asked Questions for BENTSAI 6205 & 6210 Handheld Inkjet Printers Malaysia | 12.7mm/25.4mm TIJ Coding

What print resolution does the Bentsai 6205/6210 support?
The 6205 series supports 600 or 300 dpi. The 6210 series supports 300 dpi. Actual legibility and barcode or 2D-code scanning depend on code size, message design, ink, substrate, print distance and operating conditions.
With the appropriate ink, the series can be evaluated for paper, corrugated cartons, wood, fibreboard, textiles, plastic, glass, metal plates, aluminium foil and cables. Test the actual substrate for adhesion, drying and normal handling before production approval.
The key difference is print height and line capacity. The 6205 series supports a maximum print height of 12.7mm with up to 5 lines of text, while the 6210 series supports up to 25.4mm print height with up to 10 lines - ideal for larger content such as multi-line addresses or bigger QR codes.
The Bentsai 6205/6210 Series (models BT-HH6205B, BT-HH6205BL, BT-HH6210B, BT-HH6210BL) is a portable thermal inkjet (TIJ) handheld printer designed for on-the-spot coding and marking. It can print expiry dates, manufacturing dates, batch numbers, QR codes, barcodes, logos, and custom text on a wide variety of surfaces.
BENTSAI states operating time of up to 16 hours using two 2600 mAh 18650 lithium-ion batteries. Actual runtime varies with printing frequency, settings, battery condition and the working environment.
Only the BL models support inline conveyor coding: BT-HH6205BL and BT-HH6210BL. The B models are handheld-only. Inline use requires the photocell sensor and a stable setup with controlled product guidance and a 2-5 mm print distance.
BENTSAI lists JPG, JPEG, PNG and BMP image formats. Prepare the artwork at an appropriate size and run a test print on the actual substrate before production approval.
PTS Technology Sdn Bhd is the only authorised BENTSAI distributor in Malaysia. Contact PTS for BENTSAI printers, genuine consumables, product demonstrations and technical support.
It is compatible with both aqueous ink (suitable for paper and cardboard) and solvent ink (for non-porous or industrial surfaces). The correct ink type should be selected based on your printing substrate.
Absolutely. Its lightweight design, long battery life, ease of use, and support for QR codes and expiry date printing make it an ideal coding solution for F&B manufacturers, logistics companies, SME product packagers, and retail businesses across Malaysia.
Yes. The printer is equipped with a built-in touchscreen display, allowing you to create, edit, and manage print content directly on the device - no computer required for basic operation.
The printer offers two modes: Simplified Mode (Concise Mode) for quick and straightforward printing, and Advanced Mode for more detailed control. Users can switch between the two modes at any time based on their preference and workflow.
Using the built-in editor, you can print text (with customisable font size and type), dates (auto-displayed system date in adjustable format), barcodes, QR codes, images/logos (JPG, JPEG, PNG and BMP via USB), and database content such as variable serial numbers or batch lists.
Open the upper cover by pressing the cover opening button. Hold the ink cartridge with the printhead facing inward at a 45 degree angle and insert it into the cartridge compartment. Press it down firmly until the printhead slots into the printer's printhead hole. Avoid using excessive force to protect the contact needles.
Place your thumb on the edge of the printer as a support point, then use your index finger to press against the protruding part of the ink cartridge and lift it out gently. Cover the removed cartridge with the cartridge clip to prevent the nozzle from drying out.
All four models support handheld printing. BT-HH6205BL and BT-HH6210BL additionally support sensor-triggered inline operation. BT-HH6205B and BT-HH6210B are handheld-only.
BENTSAI lists a maximum print speed of 30 m/min for both the 6205 and 6210 series. Inline conveyor operation is available on the 6205BL and 6210BL models; actual usable speed depends on resolution, message content, ink, substrate, product stability and line setup.
The printer provides settings for the selected job, but handheld print quality also depends on moving the printer smoothly and consistently. Test the real code and substrate; do not treat a menu value as a guaranteed production speed.
First, resize your image using a drawing tool on your computer and save it as BMP, JPG, or PNG with a filename using letters and numbers only (no special symbols). Copy the file to the pictures folder on the USB flash drive provided, then plug the USB drive into the printer. The image will be available for printing immediately.
The current BENTSAI flyer confirms JPG, JPEG, PNG and BMP support but does not state a separate model-specific pixel limit. Confirm artwork dimensions with PTS and test the actual file on the selected 6205 or 6210 model before production.
Yes. The printer supports TrueType Font (TTF) installation. Copy your font files into the fonts folder on the USB flash drive. When the USB drive is plugged into the printer, the fonts will be installed automatically and become available for use.
Yes. The printer supports database printing using TXT or CSV files (saved in Unicode text .txt or CSVUTF-8 .csv format). This is ideal for printing sequential serial numbers, unique batch codes, or variable customer data across multiple products.
Go to Advanced Mode, then Maintenance, then Nozzle Cleaning. You can also run a nozzle test from the same menu. Regular nozzle cleaning is recommended to prevent clogging, especially if the printer is not used for extended periods.
Go to Advanced Mode, then Maintenance, then FW Upgrade. Ensure the printer battery is above 50% before starting. If the battery is low, connect the charger during the upgrade process. Never power off the printer mid-upgrade as this may cause permanent damage.
Check the battery level first, a low or damaged battery is the most common cause. If the battery has been removed and reinstalled, also remember to reset the system date on the printer. If the problem persists, check for poor battery contact and reinstall the battery.
Unclear printing is typically caused by clogged ink nozzles, a depleted ink cartridge, incorrect parameter settings, or insufficient battery power. Try running a nozzle clean, replacing the cartridge if ink is low, and ensuring the battery is adequately charged before printing.
The meaning and recommended action can vary by firmware and cartridge condition. Record the exact message, stop printing if necessary, check cartridge installation and power, and refer to the current manual or contact PTS instead of replacing parts based on an assumed code.
Do not rely on cartridge identification to decide whether an ink suits the application. Confirm the approved cartridge and ink with PTS, match it to the substrate, and test adhesion, drying and handling on the actual material.
BENTSAI specifies an operating humidity range of 10%-80%. Avoid condensation, liquid exposure and storage outside the documented conditions. If the site is unusually humid, confirm the environment and storage method with PTS before use.
Contact PTS Technology for BENTSAI ink, consumables and technical support in Malaysia. Warranty eligibility and service scope depend on the supplied unit, purchase record, applicable terms and inspection; confirm these details with PTS before making a claim.
Do not assume direct interchangeability. The 6205 series provides a 12.7 mm printhead, while model choice also depends on ink, cartridge compatibility, handheld or inline operation and the application. Ask PTS to check the existing unit and workflow.
The current manufacturer flyer presents the 6205 and 6210 as the available series but does not state a universal replacement for every older model. PTS should compare the old setup with the required print height, ink and operating mode.
The current BENTSAI 6205/6210 flyer does not identify an official one-to-one replacement relationship. Select the current model by print height, resolution, ink, substrate and operating mode, then confirm compatibility with PTS.
Current unit, cartridge, spare-part and service availability should be confirmed directly with PTS. For a new 12.7 mm handheld or inline requirement, the 6205 series can be evaluated against the actual application.
Do not choose an upgrade by model name alone. Compare the required 25.4 mm print area, ink and substrate, handheld or inline workflow, code content and existing accessories. PTS can review the current application and confirm a suitable replacement path.
