Optional printhead plates for curved or recessed surfaces

Optional BENTSAI E61P protruding printhead plate for curved surfaces

Optional protruding or flat printhead plates are available where the standard plate cannot be positioned sufficiently close to a curved or recessed surface. Suitability depends on the product profile, available mounting space and the required 2–5 mm nozzle-to-product distance. A sample installation check is recommended.

Flexible conveyor installation

Optional rotating bracket for BENTSAI E61P conveyor installation

The E61P supports downward and sideward printing orientations. An optical sensor can trigger the printer as products pass the coding position, while continuous printing mode is also available. Optional rotating, anti-shock and fine-adjustment mounting components can help with narrow or difficult conveyor layouts. These brackets are optional accessories and should be selected according to the installation.

Ink and substrate selection

BENTSAI E61P ink selection for porous and non-porous substrates

Manufacturer documentation lists water-based cartridges for porous and semi-porous materials such as paper, corrugated board, wood, fibreboard and cotton. Solvent-based cartridges are listed for semi-porous and non-porous materials such as plastic, glass, metal plate, aluminium foil and cable. Colour availability varies by compatible ink family.

Ink compatibility is application-specific. Coatings, surface treatment, dust, oil, condensation, temperature, production speed and required rub resistance can affect adhesion. Test the selected cartridge on the actual material before production approval.

Batch, expiry-date, barcode, QR code and variable-data printing

BENTSAI E61P barcode QR code and variable data printing

The E61P supports text, numbers, images, dates, time, counters and database-linked data. Linear barcode formats include Code 128, Code 39, EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, ITF 2 of 5 and ITF-14. Supported 2D formats include QR Code, Data Matrix and GS1 DataMatrix. Image files can be imported in JPG, JPEG, PNG and BMP formats, while external TrueType fonts can be used from a connected USB drive.

Variable text, QR codes and barcodes can be prepared in compatible CSV or Unicode TXT files and imported by USB. The manual lists recognition of up to five columns, with one column used at a time and up to 20,485 rows per column.

Important: support for a barcode or GS1-related format does not by itself establish regulatory or customer compliance. Data structure, symbol size, quiet zones, verification, ink suitability and the applicable requirement must be checked separately.

Frequently Asked Questions for BENTSAI E61P Inline TIJ Coding Printer Malaysia | Up to 25.4mm

What is the Bentsai E61P and what industries is it suitable for?
The Bentsai E61P is an all-in-one industrial inline thermal inkjet (TIJ) coding printer designed for continuous production line use. It is suitable for the food and beverage industry for printing expiry dates and manufacturing dates, the pharmaceutical industry for batch number and lot number coding, the cosmetics and personal care industry for product coding on bottles and tubes, the electronics industry for serial number marking, the packaging industry for carton coding, and the agricultural chemical industry for label printing on containers. It supports both downward printing and sideward printing installation, making it adaptable to different conveyor line configurations.
The Bentsai E61P supports a wide range of print content types. For text, it supports adjustable font sizes from 2.5mm to 36.5mm, text rotation at 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees, horizontal and vertical mirroring, and text scaling from 50% to 150%. For codes, it supports QR Code, DataMatrix, and GS1 DataMatrix in 2D formats, and Code 128, Code 39, EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, and ITF (2 of 5) in barcode formats. For date and time, it supports 19 date formats and 12 time formats including both 24-hour and 12-hour options, with an automatic update function and expiry date offset of up to 7,300 days. It also supports sequential counters with automatic increment or decrement, logos and images in JPG, JPEG, PNG, and BMP formats, and database-linked variable data printed from CSV or TXT files via USB.
The Bentsai E61P offers two resolution settings: 300 DPI and 600 DPI. At 300 DPI with a 0.5-inch cartridge, the maximum print speed is 60 metres per minute, with a minimum speed of 20mm per second. At 600 DPI with a 0.5-inch cartridge, the minimum speed is 10mm per second and the maximum speed varies depending on the grey level selected. With a 1-inch cartridge, the maximum print speed is 30 metres per minute at 300 DPI. The grey level is adjustable from 1 to 10, allowing you to control ink density based on your substrate type. The print direction can be set to either left-to-right or right-to-left.
The Bentsai E61P supports two installation orientations. For downward printing, use 2 pieces of M4 x 16 screws to secure the printer mount base to the mounting holes marked for downward printing. For sideward printing, mount the printer base using the holes designated for sideward printing. The printer also has X-Y fine tuning module mounting holes for precise position adjustment. An optional rotating bracket and anti-shock bracket are available as accessories. The rotating bracket is recommended for narrow conveyors and provides impact protection — if the printer is accidentally hit during operation, the bracket rotates to absorb the impact and protect the device.
To switch between cartridge sizes, you need to replace the printhead panel. First, shut down the printer completely before starting the replacement — this is mandatory. Then unscrew the 4 pieces of M2.5 x 8 screws on the front panel and remove the existing panel. Install the new panel for the desired cartridge size (either the standard panel or the optional flat protruding panel) and screw it back in securely. The 0.5-inch panel allows print heights of 2.5mm to 12.7mm with up to 5 lines and resolution up to 600 DPI, while the 1-inch panel allows print heights of 2.5mm to 25.4mm with up to 10 lines at 300 DPI.
No. The Bentsai E61P is a fully standalone all-in-one printer that operates independently without any computer or external software. It has a built-in 4.3-inch HD LCD touch screen running on an embedded Linux operating system. All print editing functions including adding text, QR codes, barcodes, images, dates, counters, and database-linked variable data can be performed directly on the device's touch screen. The device stores up to 128MB of internal memory, which can hold approximately 3,000 print messages. Print jobs can be saved, renamed, recalled, and managed using the built-in Job Management function, including Group Printing which allows multiple saved jobs to be printed in a specified sequence.
The Bentsai E61P supports two triggering methods. The first is photoelectric sensor triggering (Sensory Mode), where an external optical sensor detects the product passing on the conveyor and automatically triggers the printer to fire. The sensor port is a dedicated port on the back of the unit. The second is continuous printing mode, where the printer fires repeatedly at a set interval and count without needing a sensor trigger. In continuous mode, the print count can be set from 1 to 999,999 times and the print interval can be set from 0 to 2,000mm. The print delay can be adjusted from 0 to 500mm to synchronize the print position accurately with the product on the conveyor.
The Bentsai E61P system interface supports 29 languages: Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, German, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, French, Hindi, Thai, Persian, Turkish, Indonesian, Slovenian, Serbian-Croatian, Czech, Bulgarian, Romanian, Polish, Greek, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Slovak, and Burmese. The language can be changed at any time through the System Settings menu using the Language Settings option. Note that the available languages may vary depending on the machine version and region.
On the Bentsai E61P, go to the Print Editing interface, tap Add, and select Time. You can enable both Date and Time independently or together. Select your preferred date format from 19 available options such as YYYY/MM/DD, DD/MM/YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD, YYYYMMDD, and others. Enable Auto Update so the date automatically updates each day without manual editing. To set an expiry date that is a fixed number of days ahead of the printing date, use the Expiry function — the maximum offset is 7,300 days and the minimum is 1 day. The effective date offset (from when the timer starts) can be set up to 20 years, 12 months, 31 days, and 1 hour. Both Gregorian and Julian calendar formats are supported.
On the Bentsai E61P, go to Print Editing, tap Add, and select Number. You can configure either Automatic Increment or Automatic Decrement. For increment mode, set the Start value (minimum value), the Current value (starting print value), and the Stop value (maximum value). For decrement mode, set the Start value (maximum), Current value, Stop value (minimum), and the Step change value. The numbering format can be set to display with or without leading zeros - four format options are available including 0001, and the cycle count can repeat up to 100,000 times before resetting. Font size, type, rotation, spacing, mirroring, and scaling settings are all independently configurable for the counter element.
Yes. The Bentsai E61P supports database-linked variable printing. To use this function, first prepare your data in Microsoft Excel or WPS Spreadsheet, then save it as a CSV file in UTF-8 format or as a Unicode TXT file. Name the file using letters or numbers only. Copy the file to the database folder on a USB drive and insert the USB drive into the printer. In the Print Editing interface, tap Add and select Database, then choose from Variable Text, Variable QR Code, or Variable Barcode. The system can recognise up to 5 columns per file, with a maximum of 20,485 rows per column. You can set the starting and ending rows for the print run. This feature is ideal for printing unique serial numbers, product-specific QR codes, or individual batch records from a pre-prepared list.
The Bentsai E61P comes with two built-in fonts: Yahei.ttf (Microsoft YaHei) and Song.ttf (SimSong). To add custom or third-party fonts, download the font file in TTF format and copy it into the fonts folder on a USB drive. Insert the USB drive into the printer and wait a few seconds for the font to install. Note that external fonts can only be used while the USB drive remains connected to the printer — do not remove the USB drive during printing. The font will be available for selection in any text, date, number, or database element within the Print Editing interface.
The Bentsai E61P has three built-in nozzle maintenance functions accessible from the Device Maintenance menu. For Nozzle Cleaning, place the printhead in contact with a printing surface and tap Nozzle Clean to purge the nozzles and restore print quality. For Nozzle Moisturizing, place the printhead against a surface and tap Nozzle Wet to keep the nozzles hydrated, which is recommended when the printer has not been used for an extended period. For Nozzle Testing, use the Print Test Page function to verify that all nozzles are firing correctly, a test page with a QR code and barcode pattern will be printed. The ink parameters including pulse width and voltage are automatically detected when a cartridge is installed and do not need manual adjustment.
The Bentsai E61P operates on DC 9V at 2A output, with an input power adapter accepting AC 100-240V — suitable for Malaysian electrical standards. The working temperature range is 5°C to 35°C with humidity between 10% and 80%. The storage temperature range is 0°C to 45°C (some specifications indicate up to 55°C for storage) with the same humidity range. The printer weighs 460g and has a body dimension of 155mm x 61mm x 115mm, making it one of the most compact industrial inline TIJ printers available. The status LED uses a colour-coded system: green indicates the printer is ready, blue indicates it is currently printing, and red indicates an alarm or error condition.
To upgrade the firmware on the Bentsai E61P, first obtain the latest firmware file from the Bentsai official website or by contacting your local authorised distributor. Extract the firmware file and copy it to a USB drive. Insert the USB drive into the printer, go to the main interface, tap Maintenance, then select Firmware Upgrade and confirm.
